Our School
ROK is a Jiu Jitsu academy for everybody to learn Jiu Jitsu, self-defense and become their best self. Professor Sop Huh and Coach Steven Schneider provide a great balance of strengths to complement each other. Professor Sop has an extensive resume in Jiu Jitsu accomplishments that show in his world class teachings, while Coach Steven provides high-level Wrestling with his Division I experience. Their style is the most progressive style of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, allowing them to continuously adapt at all levels. While truly caring for the craft and students, both also keep the academy’s atmosphere sharp, clean and professional. Come on in and become a part of the ROK family!
History
The journey of ROK Jiu Jitsu has been kickstarted with a JUNE 2025 opening. Our academy was founded by Professor Sop Huh and Coach Steven Schneider. The two each have a decorated background in martial arts that set them apart. Prof. Sop has become a dominant competitor, capturing NINE IBJJF World Championships. Prof. Sop also spent time serving in the South Korean military as a member of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Marine Corps, our school’s namesake. Meanwhile, Coach Steven won an IBJJF Pans 2022 Championship and multiple IBJJF Open gold medals as he transitioned from Division I Wrestling at Binghamton University to Jiu Jitsu. Now, they have come together bringing Jiu Jitsu to Huntington Station, creating a culture for everyone.

Meet The
ROK Jiu Jitsu Team
Professor Sop and Coach Steven collectively have over 35 years of experience.
With each carrying their own pedigree of accomplishments, they have spent time amongst the best in their sports both as competitors and teachers. Together, the two bring the most updated and dynamic styles of Jiu Jitsu to the forefront to everyone of all ages.
PROFESSOR SOP HUH
2nd Degree Black Belt
Originally from Paju, South Korea, Professor Sop Huh began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey in 2010. Proving technical mastery, he earned his black belt in less than a decade under Professor Joe Scarola, later receiving his 1st-degree promotion through the same lineage. Most recently, Professor Sop was awarded his 2nd-degree black belt under the legendary Professor Marcelo Garcia.
Now serving as the head instructor of ROK Jiu Jitsu, Professor Sop has established an academy known for its welcoming environment for beginners and high-level competitors. His approach blends world-class technique with a strong emphasis on discipline, respect, and growth—on and off the mats.

COACH STEVEN SCHNEIDER
Purple Belt
Former NCAA Division I wrestler Steven Schneider, a native of Levittown, New York, began his grappling career at MacArthur High School, later competing at the collegiate level for Binghamton University. In 2019, Steven transitioned into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, beginning his training under UFC Hall of Famer Matt Serra, where he earned his Blue Belt. He continued his development under Professor Matheus Lutes, earning his Purple Belt. Today, Steven trains under 10X IBJJF World Champion Professor Sop Huh, continuing to refine his skills and pursue excellence both as a student and competitor.

Jiu Jitsu Classes
Our classes are designed for both beginners and competitors. Beginners are provided a Jiu Jitsu academy that will embrace their beginning journey, focusing on self-defense and personal development. Competitors are provided the opportunities to advance further down their path of mastery and dominance on the mat. Whether you’re signing your kids up for an activity or for yourself we have you covered.
